Tennessee football gets Chiziked

Lane Kiffin promised Tennessee football fans he was “just getting started” in returning the Volunteers to national prominence.

Two weeks later he’s the coach at USC, leaving recruits, players and assistant coaches in limbo.

Sound familiar Iowa State fans?

Gene Chizik talked about being “firmly entrenched” in Ames late in the disastrous 2-10 season of 2008. We all know how that turned out.

Where’s the loyalty in college coaching? By now we should all know there isn’t any.

It’s a cuthroat profession where the faces change and only the names stay the same. It’s part of the game now and, unfortunately, some schools and athletic directors have learned that the hard way.

Many would say ISU is better off for it.

Time will tell if the same could be said for Tennessee.
