Expect receivers Sedrick Johnson and Darius Reynolds to play big roles. The Cyclones are going to put the ball in the air quite a bit today and these guys figure to see it often.
Iowa doesn’t give up many big plays, so it won’t be with down the field throws, but Reynolds can work the short routes well and Johnson is a big target who’ll work well close to the goal line.
Defensively, lineabcker Jesse Smith is going to have a chance to make a lot of plays. The senior from Altoona will be playing his final Iowa-ISU game and never has needed motivation to get out on the field and hit somebody.
And remember those three field goals Grant Mahoney missed a year ago? He’s got it in his mind to atone for those misfires. He blasted a 50-yarder last week and was just short on a 57-yarder. If it comes down to a game-winning kick, he’ll be ready.
Kickoff is less than 10 minutes away.
Enjoy the game everybody.
